Da'Shrine: An African Caribbean Restaurant

T he building has been sitting for a while. Lets explore what finally took over.  Da'Shrine, 2023 L et me start this one off by stating that I am in no means an expert on Africa, their cuisine, or their culture. Da'Shrine claims to be a mixture of African and Caribbean cuisine. They are sporting a restaurant with a rooftop bar. If you had been to The Refinery prior to coming here, you'll know how the rooftop bar was set up. Unfortunately, the bar wasn't open when we went due to some maintenance that needed to be done before they could open. They did manage to use the space well, though, given how small the building actually is. They also have music playing from the TV, which is fine, but you can't hear the bartender over the bass. But that's not why you're here. Old Fashioned, 2023 T he bar is a square bar sitting against the back wall when you walk in. They have a decent selection with six beer taps as well. The bartender was telling us about some unique

Lowry Parcade & Tavern: The 90's Never Died!

Have you ever woken up and said, "Man, I really want to drink craft beer and play arcade games?" I got you.

 Lowry Parcade, 2017

Opened early in 2016, the Lowry Parcade has created a niche in a new industry taking over trendy areas of the United States. The concept is simple: Come in to play some classic arcade games, most dating back to the 80's and early 90's, and enjoy a craft beer. Nothing crazy or elaborate. I, honestly, couldn't tell you how I first heard of this place, but I can tell you that you probably know of it thanks to the Rickmobile that came to town a week or so ago. It was parked directly in front of the Parcade. But you didn't come here for that, lets get to the meat & potatoes!

Hanging Out, 2017

Lets start off with their beer selection. Most people who know me know that I love a good beer! Luckily for me, Lowry Parcade delivers, and they deliver in a big way. In Tampa, you don't struggle to find craft beer, and you rarely struggle to find good craft beer. Lowry Parcade manages to get some one offs, seasonals, and they don't tend to stick to ordinary. This is the type of bar you come to to find a new favorite beer. If you get the chance, I'd suggest the 7venth Sun Intergalactic. If you're a craft beer aficionado, this is the place to hang out!

Pinball Anyone?, 2017

But lets get to the reason this place is even here: the arcade. There are dozens of old arcade games from decades past gathered together in this tiny bar. Everything from Mortal Combat to pinball, to even a lone skee ball machine. The best part about this arcade is that they're always adding new games. And, if the arcade games aren't enough, they also offer up NES, SNES, and even N64s for your gaming pleasure. There is no lack of games, and no possible way for you to get bored while playing them.

More Games, 2017

Things to know before you go:
- These machines take quarters and their quarter machine doesn't always work. Have some on hand.
- The craft beer selection is excellent!
- There is no food and they don't allow smoking.
- It can be quite a pain to find. Keep your eyes open for their unique sign.
